McGinnis Triples On Buckeye Card At Scioto

Trainer Jason McGinnis sent out three Buckeye Stallion Series winners for The Stable, all driven by Anthony MacDonald, on a 16-race card at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Tuesday, July 14.

Dublins Ferani ($3.20) became McGinnis's first winner when the filly scored by 1-1/2 lengths over Rangel (Austin Hanners) in 1:58.1 in the fourth of seven $28,169 divisions for two-year-old filly trotters. Kikionamission (Chris Page) was third. By Uncle Peter out of the Donato Hanover mare Pat On The Back, Dublins Ferani was a $16,667 August Blooded Horse Sale purchase from breeder Dublin Valley Farm. The filly, owned by Thestable Dublins Ferani, took her first win in three attempts.

Next up for McGinnis was Popular Expert ($18.20), who won the third of five $28,169 rookie male trot contests by a half-length over Inrange Anytime (Kevin Detweiler) in 1:58.1 for owner Thestable Popular Expert. Krazy Caviar (Sam Widger) completed the top three. The winning son of What The Hill out of the Pegasus Spur mare Mona Lisa Spur was an $11,111 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase from breeder Marvin Raber. He is now one-for-two lifetime.

The final winner for the trainer was a homebred for The Stable – Lou Armstrong ($2.20), who won the last colt split by 8-3/4 lengths over Serg Garcia (Chris Lems) in 1:58.4 with Camsflashyaction (Luke Hanners) third. Lou Armstrong is by Cuatro De Julio and out of The Stable's mare, My Jazz, a daughter of My Mvp. He notched his second win in three starts, 10 days after finishing third in the Next Generation.

McGinnis is 33-for-162 this year for a win rate of 20.4 per cent. The Macedonia, Ohio-based trainer conditions many horses for The Stable, including Jailbird Jog, who won the Del Miller Memorial at The Meadowlands last Saturday.

Moni Tree ($26.40) led off the Buckeye action as she rallied from seventh to win the first filly division for driver Trevor Smith by three lengths over Judeah (Lems) in 1:57.4. Lolly (Ronnie Gillespie) was third. The winning daughter of Ready For Moni out of the Muscles Yankee mare New Leaf is trained by Danny Collins, who co-owns her with Alan Swayne Jr., Charles McLain and Phillps Stables. The $38,888 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase, bred by Winbak Farm, was making her career debut.

Another Ready For Moni filly, Moni Line ($15.20), flew down the lane to nab Ds Alisson (Lems) by a neck in 1:57.3, with Aunt Jessie (Austin Hanners) third in the second contest for fillies. Kurt Sugg piloted the debuting winner, out of the Muscle Hill mare South Win Bax, for trainer Michael Lee, who co-owns her with Steven Maas and Jesse Wittmer. Moni Line was a $27,778 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale purchase (as Share The Moni) from breeder Glengate Farms.

Coach Me To Win ($7.80) went gate-to-wire in the third distaff division for a 1-1/2-length win in 1:58.4, with Seven Lick Holiday (Tyler Smith) second, followed by Wishinghallofchina (Sam Widger). Chris Page had the winning steer in the filly's first start for trainer Steve Carter. The daughter of Coach K Hanover out of the Muscle Massive mare Flirtin Flare, bred by Perry Coblentz, went for $24,306 at the Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale to owners Hatfield Stables, Brent Davis and Carter.

Mitey Lil ($13) collared pacesetter Soaring Sophia (Ronnie Gillespie) from the pocket in the fifth filly split to score by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:57.4 with Chris Lems in the bike for trainer Daren Harvey. Anayawaka (Trevor Smith) was third. Wayne Mast Jr., Johns Racing Stable and Callam Racing LLC own the winning daughter of Volstead out of the Neely Dunn mare Super Lily. She was bred by Johns Racing Stable and Wes Hershberger and is now one-for-one.

Been Thru Hill ($3.20) was a 2-1/2-length winner in 1:59.2 in the sixth contest for fillies for owner/breeder Charles Hartzell. Carson Conrad steered the Dalton Walls trainee to victory over Betterbehoppin (Luke Hanners), who was second, followed by Rollin Range (Ronnie Gillespie). The winning daughter of What The Hill out of the Uncle Peter mare Trumpeter Swan has won both starts to date.

The last filly division was won by Sweet Valorie ($5.20) in 1:58.1. She was victorious by 3-1/4 lengths over Volnilla Cupcake (Chris Page), with Angel L (David Miller) third. Sweet Valorie, a $9,722 Buckeye Classic Yearling Sale purchase by owners Karen and Jan Fread, is by Volstead out of the What The Hill mare Sweet Magnolia. Karen Fread trains the Andy Miller-bred mare, who was driven to her first victory in two outings by Luke Hanners.

Mind On My Moni ($2.10) posted the fastest time of the Buckeye action as he won the opening division for males by 3-1/4 lengths over Dollar Guard (Tony Hall) in 1:56.4 with Chris Lems driving for trainer Vernon Beachy. Platnuim Atm (Sam Widger) rounded out the top three. After winning an overnight in his debut, Mind On My Moni is two-for-two for owners 518 Group LLC, Gitup Racing, Ryan Smith and Todd’s Auto. The son of Ready For Moni out of the Angus Hall mare Jjs Jordyn was purchased for $29,166 from the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale.

Easter Bb ($2.20) drove 6-1/4 lengths clear to capture the second colt contest in 1:57, with Me Ready (Sandy Beatty) second and Smoking Mars (Kevin Detweiler) third. David Miller had the lines of the son of Creatine out of the Whom Shall I Fear mare Fear Her Makeup for trainer Phillip Knox. Owner Brant Brower co-bred the gelding with Burlin Brower. Easter Bb is now four-for-five after winning three times in the Kentucky Proud Series.

Little Dirt Cowboy ($34.20) upset in the fourth flight for males, cutting the mile and winning his debut by two lengths over Im Fromthecountry (Justin Irvine) in 1:59.2 for driver Kurt Sugg and trainer Kara Miller. Firing Down Range (David Miller) finished third. Callam Racing LLC owns and bred the winning son of In Range out of the Full Count mare Anniesbluejeanbaby.

Racing at Scioto continues on Wednesday with a 16-race card that starts at 5:25 p.m.
