Driver Kevin Switzer Jr. won six races on the 13-race card at First Tracks Cumberland on Saturday, July 11.

With the Maine Amateur Driving Club race in the opener won by Todd Whitney, Switzer got things going as early as he could — in the second race.

In the late half of the early Daily Double, Switzer put trainer Zach Vickerson's claiming pacer Rau Ru ($2.20) on the front end and never looked back. Winning by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:56.2, it was the swiftest race of the day.

Switzer came right back in the third with Coach Cutsinger ($3.20) in a 1:57.2 winning mile for trainer Randy Bickmore.

Then the black and blue-clad teamster won the featured $7,324 conditioned optional claiming pace in race five with another Vickerson trainee, Rock Candy ($2.40), in 1:56.4.

In the eighth race, Switzer finished second and was placed first with the Marianna Monaco-trained Quatrain Blue Chip ($2.80), with the mile time in 1:57.4.

A familiar face in the Cumberland winner's circle, Sheriff N ($3.80) took charge in the 11th for Switzer and enjoyed a pillar-to-post rout in 1:56.4 for the 12-year-old claiming pacer's fourth win in a row, completing a Vickerson training triple on the day.

Finally, Switzer closed out his six-win afternoon with an off-the-pace score behind Mallard in the 12th dash. Getting up under the shadow of the wire in 1:59, the Bob Marston-trained steed paid a whopping $24.40 to win.

Michelle Lefebvre matched Vickerson for top training honours on the day with three winners from her own stable: the Whitney-driven Windsun Duke ($14.80) in the opener followed by Luckisontheway ($11.80) and Timely Bet ($2.60), with Nick Graffam driving the latter pair.

Switzer continues his reign atop the local leaderboard with 74 seasonal victories at First Tracks Cumberland. Graffam (58) and Aaron Hall (49) round out the top three.

Lefebvre has 49 training wins for current conditioner honours, followed by Marston, who has 36.

Racing resumes on Friday, July 17 in concert with the track’s Friday-Saturday schedule for the remainder of the month. The only exception being a three-day run from Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26 during the penultimate weekend of the meet. First post is 12:15 p.m. during the extended pari-mutuel meeting, which runs through Aug. 2.
