Dresden To Host Harness The Hope And OSS Sunday

Dresden Raceway racing

The Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots will return to Dresden Raceway on Sunday, July 12, with a pair of $30,000 divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies highlighting an exciting 12-race Harness the Hope Day program.

Harness the Hope Day raises awareness for breast cancer, with fans encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause. Activities throughout the afternoon will include a Best Dressed Horse & Groom Contest, sponsored by Wilson's Tack & Mare Flare Equestrian, and the Dare to Wear Pink Contest, where fans wearing pink will be entered to win prizes, along with flower giveaways and additional prizes. The Harness the Hope swag table will be also be trackside.

In Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS_ action, the first division, scheduled for race four, features No Better Air, the 7-5 favourite in the six-horse field who will start from the inside post with Austin Sorrie driving for trainer Scott McEneny. Last year's divisional Grassroots champion has been racing consistently on the OSS circuit this season with a pair of second-place finishes. Mcbubbles, driven by Tyler Borth for conditioner John Pentland, is another top contender as she has put together several strong efforts this year in the Grassroots and enters off a track record victory at Clinton Raceway in last weekend's Kin Pace.

The second division goes in race six and is led by 8-5 morning line favourite Th Check Me Out, who will be driven by Tyler Borth for trainer Blake MacIntosh, as she drops down from the Gold Series level. Shuri, with Garrett Rooney catch-driving for the Jason Libby barn, has put together several solid top three performances in Grassroots action and appears to be the favourite's biggest challenger.

The 12-race card gets underway at 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
