Aces And Cinches Dominant In Indiana Sire Stakes
Aces And Cinches led the field from start to finish to take down the $134,286 fourth leg of the Indiana Sire Stakes (INSS) for three-year-old pacing males at Hoosier Park on Friday, July 3 in a career-best 1:48.1.
Starting from the outside post six, Aces And Cinches went straight to business for Kyle Wilfong, emerging from a four-way calvary charge to the first turn to cross over to the cones before the quarter in a wicked :25.4. Favourite Swiss Lights (Trace Tetrick) swung to the outside and advanced from fourth just after the field reached the half in :53.3, then angled outside of pocket-popping Dancingdreamer (Marcus Miller) to three-quarters in 1:21.4. Aces And Cinches gave his pursuers no chance down the lane, steaming to the wire in :26.2 to prevail by 4-1/2 lengths. Swiss Lights nabbed second in the final strides over Dancingdreamer.
Aces And Cinches took his second career win in 17 starts for trainer Ron Burke and his first in the INSS. The sophomore son of Odds On Equuleus-Gypsy Bellevue is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Frank Baldachino and Michael Rosenthal. The three-year-old more than doubled his lifetime earnings to $131,333 with his second win of the season in eight outings. He paid $11 to win.
The 1:48.1 clocking matched the fastest mile of the season thus far at Hoosier Park, posted initially by Rip Wheeler on May 29.
The 10-year-old double-millionaire Little Rocket Man led a trio of winners for trainer Ken Rucker on the 13-race card as he steamrolled to victory in the $31,429 Open Handicap Pace.
Little Rocket Man was cleared for liftoff out post five by Kyle Wilfong, firing to the rail through the first turn and pacing an opening split of :26.1. He remained the leader at the halfway point in :55 tightly followed by Combustion (Marcus Miller), Crooked Smile (Jordan Ross) and favourite M M S Bud (John De Long). M M S Bud took on the challenge by going first-over and reached the wheel of Little Rocket Man at three-quarters in in 1:22.4. Little Rocket Man powered down the stretch, fending off M M S Bud to get to the wire in 1:49.3. Leave It To Leo (Atlee Bender) rallied for second, beaten a length, while M M S Bud ended in third.
The Rockin Image-Gt Miss Royal gelding Little Rocket Man is owned by Russell Beeman and Jack Freeman. He scored his seventh win of the season in 16 starts, increasing his lifetime earnings to $2,406,248. His career record now stands at 86-for-158. He paid $5.40 to win.
