Tiger Baron Swipes Buffalo Co-Feature

Tiger Baron

Tiger Baron was a dominant three-length winner in Buffalo Raceway's co-featured $15,571 optional-claiming pace on Friday, July 3, taking his third straight score in a seasonal best 1:55.1.

Ideal Perfect Ten (Wade Tomaszewski) set the early pace with a :28.1 opening marker, but Tiger Baron (Dave McNeight III) wanted to be the commander of fractions and hit the half on top in :57.1 and reached three-quarters in 1:26.4. Cold Decked (Kyle Cummings) went three-wide around the final turn but had no luck in trying to catch Tiger Baron (David McNeight III). Cold Decked finished second over Ideal Perfect Ten.

Tiger Baron has stepped in his class in his last two starts, winning both to improve to four-for-10 on the season. Dave McNeight Jr. trains the gelding for Courtney McNeight. The 11-year-old son of Western Terror-Shaky Hanover is now 44-for-262 lifetime with $561,776 in earnings. He paid $6.22 to win.

In the $15,571 co-featured optional-claiming trot, Deliciousstone Dk used a seasonal best of 1:57.4 to hold off Whats The Point by a half-length.

Starting from the five spot, Deliciousstone Dk (Drew Monti) went forward to cut the mile. Whats The Point sat in the pocket through fractions of :28.4 :58.3 and 1:28 and had every opportunity down the stretch, but Deliciousstone Dk proved a tough leader and held on for the victory. I Got The Looks (Dan Yetman) was third.

Trained by Darrin Monti and owned by Carl Monti, Deliciousstone Dk now has three wins in 10 starts this year. The 11-year-old gelded son of Wishing Stone-Ashleighs Legacy recorded his 28th career victory and increased his bankroll to $225,451 in 269 starts. He paid $4.48 at the windows.

Drew Monti finished the 13-race card with four driving wins. McNeight III collected three tallies and Shawn Gray won a pair.

Racing will continue at Buffalo on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with a 12-race card scheduled. The $14,700 USD Open Trot and Open Pace are the featured events and will go off as the seventh and eighth races, respectively.
