Canada's Leading Racehorses Mid-Season
With the first half of the 2026 harness racing season in the books, Trot Insider takes a look at some of the top performing Standardbreds in Canada in the wins, earnings and speed categories.
Four-year-old pacing mare Lets N Joy N leads all racehorses for wins in Canada so far this year, boasting 11 victories from 16 starts. The daughter of Bettors Delight and Rock N Joy won her first Canadian start at Flamboro Downs in mid-January and went on to win the Blizzard Pacing Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park, where she has ascended to the Open distaff ranks for five of her victories under the tutelage of trainer Jacques Dupont and owner Ecurie Csl of Sorel-Tracy, Que.
There are five nine-time winners tied for second including a pair of Jodie Cullen trainees: three-year-old pacing filly Angels Amoung Us and four-year-old male pacer Rbstenacious T. The Kyle Bossence-trained four-year-old stallion Muskie Man is the winningest trotter with his nine wins. The others with nine successful starts are the Cameron McQueen stable's 10-year-old pacer Livin Large and Thatmomentinlife, an eight-year-old pacer who earned the majority of his victories while in the care of trainer Gerard Demers.
Odds On Mr Mamba leads all horses for earnings so far this year having amassed $525,000 from just two starts in Canada. Trained by Melanie Wrenn for owner Odds On Racing of Boca Raton, Florida, the three-year-old Odds On Equuleus-Honky Tonk Woman gelding swept his $50,000 elimination and the million-dollar final of the North America Cup in June at Mohawk.
A runner-up to Odds On Mr Mamba in both of those races and a winner in the $140,500 Somebeachsomewhere Stakes, the Andrew Harris-trained colt Brandon Blvd ranks second for earnings with $307,750 from his three Canadian starts. Third behind that pair in the Cup, the reigning Horse of the Year Beau Jangles has earned $268,957 from his six sophomore starts including victories in a pair of six-figure Ontario-sired stakes for trainer Dr. Ian Moore.
Ayeaye Captain Deo holds the national season's record at the halfway point of the year after the four-year-old son of Captaintreacherous-Oceania blitzed a 1:47.3 career-best mile in the opening leg of the Graduate Series on May 30 at Mohawk. The Garry Merner trainee is owned by Gino Toscani of Mount Hope, Ont.
Four-year-old gelding Snack Attack is Canada's fastest pacer on a five-eighths-mile track this year courtesy of his 1:50.4 score in an overnight race at Grand River Raceway on June 22 for trainer Ashleigh Hensley.
The season's fastest pacer on a half-mile track is also the all-time Canadian record holder as Bruno No No blazed to a 1:48.2 triumph over Flamboro Downs in the Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup elimination round on May 10 for trainer David Menary.
The fastest trotter in Canada through the first six months of 2026 is the three-time reigning Older Male Trotter of the Year Logan Park, who won an Open at Mohawk in 1:50 on June 1 while racing from the Duane Marfisi stable. The eight-year-old Archangel-Rite Outa The Park gelding is owned by Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Ont., Reg Higgs of Blenheim, Ont., and Arpad Szabo of Bradford, Ont.
Campaigned by Melissa Loyer, six-year-old gelding P C Peterbilt's 1:54.2 mile in an overnight race at Grand River Raceway on June 29 stands as the season's trotting record for a five-eighths-mile track in Canada.
The fastest trotting winner on a half-mile track this year is eight-year-old gelding Flemsteen, who was a 1:54.2 winner in an Open at Charlottetown Driving Park on June 11 for the Jennifer Doyle stable. The time of the mile also stands as the all-age trotting track record.
