All Star Cresting Trot Series Resumes Thursday

Harness Racing at Charlottetown Driving Park

The three-year-old trotters take centre stage on Thursday, July 2 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park with the All Star Cresting Trot Series continuing on the program.

The capital oval has a 14-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m., with the pair of $8,250 All Star Cresting Trot Series third-leg divisions carded as the second and fourth races.

Hallysgurl gets 5-2 top billing in the second-race division for fillies from post three with Gilles Barrieau in the seat for trainer Darryl MacLean. The daughter of Muscle Mass-Incredible Hally has been undefeated so far this season from three starts for owners Calvin Larkin and Erika Bradley. Roseys El Girl (3-1) leaves from the rail with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Bill Lanigan while Miss Gracie Ridge (7-2) has post four with trainer Ambyr Campbell in the bike.

The split for males lines up in Race 4 with Little Louis the 5-2 morning-line favourite from post one for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Kuri White and owner East Coast Captains. The son of E L Rocket-Go With Her won 10 of 11 starts at two but finished second in his sophomore debut in the series second leg. West River Karuna (3-1) is a top threat from post three with Ken MacDonald driving for trainer Clare MacDonald. Big Rig (7-2) has post four with Michael McGuigan training and driving.

The $5,500 Open Trot hits the track in Race 11 with Buckhead Ridge installed as the 5-2 morning-line choice from post two. Marc Campbell drives the six-year-old son of Nuncio-Tuonela, trained by Landon Campbell, for owner Brady Doyle. West River Jet (7-2) has rail control with Clare MacDonald training and driving, while Flemsteen (3-1) leaves from post three with Ken Murphy aboard for trainer Jennifer Doyle.

The 13th-race overnight feature is the $6,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred 1 Pace with Lady Cafe Au Lait (5-2) in search of her seventh straight win. The four-year-old Big Jim-Lady Latte mare drew post eight for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms and Matt and David Burke. She has been a major force since landing on P.E.I., with four wins from four outings on the Island, but will have to overcome the outside post in the eight-horse field. Windemere Saddy (3-1) gets post five with Ken Murphy in the seat for trainer Saul Lanigan while Sugar Bowl leaves from post seven with Brady Sweet driving for trainer David O’Brien. Trumps Girl is another contender from post two with Adam Merner driving for the O’Brien barn.

The Post Time Picks likes Trumps Girl on top.

“Trumps Girl has reeled off two straight victories, and her latest came in a division of the Aged Pacing Mares Series, where she came first-up and cleared to the lead in deep stretch to win. She has a great post, and her toughest opponents are on the outside wing of the gate, so I'm betting post advantage trumps talent here.”
