Beau Jangles To Miss Meadowlands Pace

The connections of star three-year-old pacing colt Beau Jangles have announced that the reigning Horse of the Year will miss the upcoming Meadowlands Pace, with eliminations this coming Saturday, July 4.

In an official statement from the connections following a fifth-place finish in this past weekend's Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park, trainer Dr. Ian Moore and owners Graham Grace Stables, Kiwi Stables and Bolton Stables shared an update on the career winner of more than $1.95 million.

"After careful consultation with our veterinary team, it has been determined that Beau Jangles has a lung infection. We have made the difficult decision to not enter Beau Jangles into the Meadowlands Pace in the best interest of the horse's long-term health and well-being.

"While this is certainly a disappointing outcome for our connections and supporters, the horse's health must always come first. We remain optimistic that with appropriate treatment, rest and recovery, Beau Jangles will be able to return to competition when fully fit.

"We appreciate the understanding and continued support of our owners, fans and racing community, and we look forward to providing updates on Beau Jangles’s progress as they become available.

"The entire Beau Jangles team continues to be grateful for everyone’s support and kindness; it truly means more than we can express. We just need a little time to help Beau get back to being Beau!"

After an undefeated freshman campaign, Beau Jangles started his three-year-old season with wins in the SBOA Stakes and Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series before being defeated, finishing third in both his elimination and the $1 million final of the North America Cup, when he was beaten just half a length in a 1:48.1 mile behind Brandons Blvd and winner Odds On Mr Mamba.
