Glamour Boys Battle In DSBF Prelims

Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes action for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings highlighted the Monday, June 22 racing program at Harrington Raceway with a trio of $28,169 divisions.

The top eight point earners from the two preliminary legs will return to compete in the $110,000 USD finals on July 23, as part of the Delaware State Fair racing program.

Iheartmum ($10.60) and driver Art Stafford Jr. won the first division in front-end fashion in 1:55. The Badlands Hanover-Iheartquestionmark gelding led through fractions of :27.3, :55.4 and 1:24.4 while fighting off all comers with to hold sway by a neck. Hes Peeping was second (Jason Thompson) with Roman Raider (Brandon Givens) placed third, after Wiggle Babe was disqualified and placed fifth for interference at three-quarters. Janet Davis of Hartly, Delaware bred, owns and trains Iheartmum, who has banked $57,671 lifetime. 

Stafford Jr. continued the win parade in the second division, guiding longshot Savage Warrior ($32.60) to a wire-to-wire 1:55.3 win over My Boy Branson (Brandon Givens) and Airborne Annapolis (Tony Morgan).  Carlin Savage of Dover, Delwarae bred and co-owns the Badlands Hanover-Girlfriend Bash gelding with Pennie Savage of Salisbury, Maryland. Savage Warrior, who has won two of his six starts this season, lifted his earnings to $39,470 while taking a new career mark in this victory.

The fastest division was the final one, as Watch Em Win ($5.80) was a 1:53.1 winner over C Millertimeagain (Corey Callahan) and Slugger On Deck (Allan Davis).  The Hes Watching-Winners Over colt rode a pocket trip to victory for driver Jason Thompson and trainer Ron Burke. It was the first win of the year and ninth career for Watch Em Win, who is owned by Burke Racing Stable of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, Knox Services of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Phil Collura of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania and Weaver Bruscemi of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Watch Em Win boasts a career bankroll of $294,273 following the win.

Stafford Jr. and Tony Morgan each had three wins on the card, joining trainer Chuck Crissman Jr. with a triple.

Filly pacers will headline the DSBF eliminations on Tuesday, June 23 with a pair of divisions and four divisions of three-year-old trotters on Wednesday, June 24.

Live harness racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule through July 8.
