The Stretch Drive Fund, an initiative led by the officials of the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission (MPHRC), will hold its 16th annual golf tournament at Fox Meadow Golf Club in Stratford, P.E.I., on Wednesday, Aug. 19 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (ADT).

The Stretch Drive Fund was established to support individuals and families in the Maritime harness racing industry who are experiencing hardship. It also contributes to an annual scholarship awarded to deserving students whose families are involved in harness racing in the Maritime Provinces. To date, the Fund, which is overseen by the Senior Judges Committee and the MPHRC, has distributed more than $135,000 to those in need. 

The tournament is limited to 24 teams, and team registrations are now being accepted at $400 per team. To register, contact the MPHRC office at 902-836-5500 or [email protected]. 

Organizers are also requesting support through hole co-sponsorships of $100, as well as prize donations. Each sponsor will have signage in the tee box area of the co-sponsored hole and will be acknowledged in any media releases. All proceeds go directly to the Fund. Cheques should be made payable to MPHRC/Stretch Drive Fund and may be mailed to: Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission, PO Box 128, 5 Gerald McCarville Drive, Kensington, PE C0B 1M0. Sponsorship payments may also be provided to the race office, paddock judge or any MPHRC judge.
