Bad Girl Up Gets Another Buckeye Stallion Series Win

Bad Girl Up winning at Northfield Park

Bad Girl Up recorded a second consecutive win in the Buckeye Stallion Series on Sunday, June 21 as Northfield Park hosted three $28,169 divisions of the third leg for sophomore filly pacers.

Driven by John Ciocca Jr., odds-on favourite Bad Girl Up was front-end winner in the third division and finished in 1:53.3. The Lather Up-Bad Girls Club filly was also a Buckeye winner in the second leg at Eldorado Scioto Downs on June 5 in a lifetime mark of 1:52. She won Sunday’s race by two lengths over Katies On Fire (Braiden Rhoades) with Yankee Moonlight (Wyatt Farmer) in third. Bad Girl Up is trained by Ron Potter for owners Last Laugh LLC of Bucyrus, Ohio and Spring Haven Farm of Utica, Ohio. She now has four wins and $66,804 in earnings in 14 career starts.

Blood Queen posted the fastest mile of the three divisions, winning the first in 1:53.2 as the favourite. Trained by Ryan Miller, the Downbytheseaside-Blood Diamond filly won by 2-1/2 lengths in front-end fashion. Baxter Tough (Rhoades) and Cruzin Tothe Pier (Dan Noble), both winners in the opening leg at Northfield on May 3, rounded out the top three. Blood Queen, a close second-place finisher in the Scioto leg, is owned by Miller Racing Stable of Greenvile, Ohio, Redracer LLC of Arcanum, Ohio and Melinda Hayes of Patagonia, Arizona. She now has five wins and earnings of $84,046 in 12 lifetime starts.

The other division went to Takeaway Hanover, who led gate-to-wire fashion in a career-best 1:54.4. The Downbytheseaside-Take Into Account filly won by 1-1/4 lengths over favourite Shes Lit (Rhoades). Ill Be Home First (Justin Irvine) was third. Takeaway Hanover is trained by Cory Deyermand for owner Kapp Equine Estates of Youngstown, Ohio. Winless in eight starts as a freshman, she has hit the board in five of six starts this season with two victories, putting her earnings at $36,908.

The Buckeye Stallion Series continues on Monday, June 22 with the third leg for sophomore filly trotters at Northfield Park.
