Galliers Grabs Father's Day Six Pack At Clinton

Brady Galliers starred on an 11-race Father's Day card as racing resumed at Clinton Raceway on Sunday, June 21 following a rare cancellation the previous weekend due to heavy rainfall causing unsafe track conditions.

Newcomer Galliers, who has become one of Ontario's top B-track drivers in his first full season in Canada, won six races on the day — a career first. The Ohio native took his first win with Thunderbolt Run ($7.30) in Race 2, stopping the clock in 1:58.4 for trainer Cameron McQueen. Galliers then rattled off four consecutive victories in Races 5 through 8 aboard Azucar Jack ($8.70) in 1:53.2 for Thomas Hamm, Dark Moves ($10) in 2:01 for Troy Cochrane, Muktuk Annie ($7.90) in 1:58.3 for McQueen, and St Lads Mischief ($4) in 1:59.2 for John Kennedy. He capped off his Father's Day six-pack with the Jason Libby-trained Mighty Mary, winning the 10th race in 2:00.

"It's always rewarding to have a day like this, but what makes it even more special is doing it on Father's Day in front of such a great crowd." said Galliers. "Clinton has a tremendous community atmosphere, and it's clear how much support there is for both the racing and the local causes being celebrated here today."

Galliers is tied for second in the national drivers' standings this season with 167 victories from 1,034 starts. He and Samuel Fillion trail leader Austin Sorrie by 26 wins. Galliers' 2026 total is already the best of his career by a wide margin, more than doubling 82-win haul from 2019.

Lunar Sport ($3) captured the $8,000 Prospect Series Leg 2 contest for three-year-old pacing males. Sorrie piloted the Sportswriter-Full Moon Fix gelding to a 1:58.4 victory for trainer Blake MacIntosh.

Families, racing fans and community supporters gathered at the Huron County oval to enjoy an afternoon of exciting racing, family-friendly activities and fundraising. The Belgrave Playground Committee hosted the day's fundraising initiative, with the support of Clinton Raceway fans helping raise more than $4,000 toward a new playground structure for the Belgrave Community Park.

Families also enjoyed the popular Touch-A-Truck event in the parking lot, where children of all ages had the opportunity to climb aboard and explore a variety of heavy-duty equipment. Clinton Raceway extended its thanks to all the local businesses and individuals who brought equipment and helped make the experience possible.

"Father's Day at Clinton Raceway is always a special day," said Raceway Marketing Manager Jessica Carnochan. "Seeing families spending time together, supporting local causes and making memories both on and off the track is what community racing is all about."

The handle over the 11-race card was $71,821, with over $20,000 of that being wagered on track, something that hadn't been seen in a long time.

Live harness racing returns to Clinton on Sunday, June 28 for 50+ Day and a fundraising event in support of the Mitchell Optimist Club. Post time is 1:30 p.m.
