Bingo Night, Th Trix R Forkids Win OSS Golds

Bingo Night

Bingo Night and Th Trix R Forkids each recorded lifetime-best victories as they won their respective $90,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold second-leg divisions for three-year-old trotting fillies on Saturday, June 20 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

In the first division, favoured Bingo Night won her 2026 OSS debut in convincing fashion, posting a four-length victory over second choice Blue Jean Gal in a 1:52.1 mile.

Tyler Jones eased Bingo Night into third off the gate from post six in the eight-horse field as Hp Crystaline (Tyler Borth) led the fillies through a :26.4 opening quarter. Jones began making his move as the field came out of the first turn, and Bingo Night was on top before the :56.2 half. She cruised from there through the three-quarters in 1:24.4 and came home in :27.2 to seal the victory. Blue Jean Gal (James MacDonald) took second, with Lo And Behold (Louis-Phillipe Roy) third.

Jones drove Bingo Night to victory for his father – trainer, co-owner and co-breeder Dustin Jones, who shares the breeding credit on the filly through Dustin Jones Stables Inc. with co-owner Herbert Horses Inc. of Montreal, Que. Bingo Night, a daughter of Green Manalishi S out of Cant Stop Tommi is also owned by Sjoeblom Racing Inc. of Delray Beach, Fla. With the win, she increased her lifetime bankroll to $470,669 and improved her record to 6-3-3 in 15 starts. The win price on Saturday was $3.80.

In the winner’s circle, Tyler Jones told Woodbine broadcaster John Rallis that Bingo Night was eased into her three-year-old year after a long rookie campaign in which she had a record of 5-3-3 in 12 starts, winning two OSS Gold legs and the $300,000 Super Final.

“The original plan for the year was to start her off slowly because she had such a big year last year, raced until November, raced in the Breeders Crown, when, if it wasn't at Mohawk, we probably would have never done it,” Tyler Jones said. “So, we gave her a little extra time, and then my dad — credit to him and credit to the owners that stuck by his game plan — he wanted three qualifiers and gave her three nice, easy qualifiers, and two good starts in the overnights.

"Last week, I thought she was going to race a lot better than that, but she kind of got interfered with just a little bit at top of the lane and didn't get a cheque. But I knew she raced better than the week before, so I knew she was ready to go tonight.”

He added that the trotter has a jam-packed stakes schedule from this point forward. Prior to Saturday, in her only other 2026 pari-mutuel starts, Bingo Night was seventh and fifth in a pair of overnights at Mohawk.

In the second Gold division on Saturday, 2-1 second choice Th Trix R Forkids was sent to the front out of post nine by driver James MacDonald, led the field through fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:25.2 and held off 4-5 favourite Flowing Tribute (Bob McClure) by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:53. Cher Hill (Doug McNair) was third.

MacDonald was taking the lines behind the Murray Brethour-trained Th Trix R Forkids for the first time.

“[Th Trix R Forkids] is just a gem to drive,” MacDonald told Rallis. “I kind of got that vibe racing against her, and Murray texted me and said she was beautiful. Then [her previous driver] Doug [McNair] said the same thing, that she is a Cadillac to drive. They couldn’t be any more right.”

The victory improved Th Trix R Forkids to 5-1-1 in 10 career starts and pushed her bankroll to $129,723 for owner/co-breeder Glenn Bechtel of Stanhope, P.E.I., who shares the breeding credit on the daughter of Muscle Mass out of One Trix Pony with Tara Hills Stud. She is now three-for-five this season and finished second in the Grade 3 Casual Breeze. She returned $6.20 on Saturday. Th Trix R Forkids was third in her OSS debut on May 24 at Mohawk. Lightly raced at two, the filly won two of her five starts, including the $45,400 final of the Harvest Series in November.

MacDonald's win with Th Trix R Forkids highlighted a five-win evening for the five-time defending Driver of the Year. He also won the opener with Tamara Hanover ($10.80) and third race with Dalton Shard N ($4.70), and drove two Dave Menary trainees, Christopher Dance N ($2.40) and Borderline Mobby ($4.20), to two of three sub-1:49 wins for the conditioner on the night. MacDonald leads the Mohawk standings with 153 victories, giving him a 37-win edge over second-placed Louis-Philippe Roy.

Menary's other sub-1:49 winner was four-year-old Waffle Blue Chip, who scored his first career Open-level victory as he defeated Mohawk's top older pacers in the $40,000 Open Pace.

Louis-Philippe Roy was conservative off the car with the stallion, a strategy that paid off when Brue Hanover (James MacDonald) hit the gas to force Remember The Alamo (Doug McNair) to accept the pocket and paid the price of a :25.1 first quarter. Calicojack Hanover (Bob McClure) kept the race at a fever pitch with a brush to the top on the way to the half in :53.3, and Waffle Blue Chip was next off the cones with a rush from fifth entering the final turn to push the new leader to three-quarters in 1:21.4. Calicojack Hanover clung to his lead into mid-stretch but capitulated past the eighth pole to Waffle Blue Chip, who came under assault in deep-stretch as stablemate Brue Hanover produced a late flurry. Waffle Blue Chip proved the sharper of the Menary trainees, holding off Brue Hanover by a neck to score in 1:48.3. Calicojack Hanover was third.

Waffle Blue Chip took his second win of the year in six starts for owner Pollack Racing LLC of Venetia, Pa. The son of Sweet Lou-Vicinity finished second in the Pennsylvania Stallion Series final last season and made several forays into Grand Circuit company, with his best result a second in the Bluegrass Stakes at The Red Mile. He is now eight-for-31 lifetime with $243,452 in earnings. Win backers received $8.70 for a base bet.

In the other speedy scores for Menary, six-year-old Christopher Dance N chalked up a lifetime-best 1:48.2 clocking, and three-year-old Borderline Mobby ($4.20) took a mark of 1:48.1. Menary is third in the Mohawk standings with 59 wins and is 60-for-241 overall this season.

Four $20,000 Pop-Up Series first-leg divisions went forward on the card. The winners were Premier First Star ($6.30), Dalton Shard N, A Class Yankee ($21.90) and Captain Hurley ($6). The series is for pacing horses and geldings that have started for a purse of $12,000 or less in the prior four starts or have not averaged $2,000 per start in 2025-2026, and did not earn more than $50,000 last year.
