Little Saratoga Finals Set For Father's Day At Dresden
The Little Saratoga Pacing Series reaches its conclusion on Sunday, June 21 at Dresden Raceway with a pair of championship events showcasing some of the top young pacers in the series.
The series, which is for non-winners of one race or $5,000 lifetime as of midnight March 31, 2026, began on June 7 with the second leg cancelled last Sunday as the card was cut short due to heavy rainfall making track conditions unsafe.
Race six on this weekend's Father's Day afternoon card features the $14,400 Little Saratoga Pacing Series final for the colts and geldings, where Skip The Honey will attempt to repeat an impressive showing from the first leg two weeks ago. The Greg Drew trainee, driven by Garrett Rooney, enters the final as the overwhelming favourite from post two and the lightly raced four-year-old gelding will attempt to remain undefeated this year in his seventh seasonal start.
Friyayitsbeachday will look to upset the 1-9 morning line favourite from post five for driver Aidan Dicks and trainer Josh McKibbin, while Warlord will starts from post four for driver/trainer Donnie Rankin Jr. Ridin Shotgun drew the rail for the son and father team of Scott and Jack Wray, and Cloudys Boy rounds out the field from post three for driver Mark MacDonell and trainer David Bain.
The fillies and mares final takes place in race 11 with a purse of $13,400 offered. Cleopanther is the morning line favourite at 8-5 following her impressive maiden-breaking victory in the opening leg. Driven by Garrett Rooney for trainer Gary Hodgson, the sophomore filly will leave from post three.
Jersey Jewel looms as the main challenger from post six for driver Robert Doyle and trainer Jason Libby. Listed at 5-2 on the morning line, she was the runner-up in round one. Stonebridge Caribe has the rail position for driver/trainer Greg Drew. Maumoneyhustle will have to overcome the outside post seven for driver Donnie Rankin Jr. and trainer Darrell Vleeming, while her stablemate Marylou Hustle drew post four with Mark MacDonell listed to drive. Completing the field, Pink Skies Tonite, for the tandem of Aidan Dicks and Josh McKibbin, has post two and Shirley U Jest, trained and driven by Natasha Day, will start from post five.
Post time on Sunday is 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free and fans can enjoy plenty of giveaways on track for Father’s Day at the races.
