Ahi Sunshine winning at Saratoga Casino Hotel

Jackie Greene is no stranger to winning the Open Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel. No trainer has won the top pacing class more than Greene in the last decade, and on Saturday, June 13, the veteran conditioner added another win to her tally courtesy of Ahi Sunshine.

Ahi Sunshine stepped back up into Open company on Saturday following a sizzling 1:51.4 victory in the conditional ranks last week. Jimmy Devaux sat behind the six-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Racey Miss in his return to the $25,000 Open Handicap. The reinsman powered the Greene trainee out to the early lead from post six in 27 seconds and reached the half in :55.4 while travelling unopposed. Ahi Sunshine felt only mild pressure cruising through three-quarters in 1:24.1 before reporting home a winner by a length
and three-quarters in 1:52.1. Pocket-sitting Pickup Man Hanover (Matt Athearn) finished second while longshot Primo Uomo (Chris Long) earned the show spot.

Ahi Sunshine went off at odds of 3-1 in what was his first Open win of the season and the sixth already this year in the Open Pace for the Greene stable. Greene has had three different pacers prevail in the top race for pacers in the 2026 campaign.

Ahi Sunshine, a multiple Ontario Sires Stakes winner as a youngster, has now won a total of 24 races and $412,716 in purses. He has been competing at Saratoga since the end of 2023 for Greene and owner Janie Kellogg of Fort Ann, New York.
