Sporty M Three Steps Up And Wins Plainridge Feature

Plainridge Park

Coming off a sharp victory last week, Sporty M Three moved up in class and out in post, but still won again in convincing fashion in the featured  $23,611 Trackmaster pace at Plainridge Park on Friday afternoon, June 12.

Sporty M Three and driver Jay Randall got away fourth as Anvil Hands (Jim Hardy) led the field to the half in :54.3. At that station, Randall had Sporty M Three out and rolling and continued to move forward up the backstretch to three-quarters in 1:21.3, where Sporty M Three took the lead before crossing over in the last turn. Sporty M Three then gave the slip to the field and at the top of the stretch, had a four-length lead that he pushed to 4-3/4 lengths by the wire, winning in a season’s best 1:50. Hespoisedtopounce A (Kevin Switzer Jr.) finished second over Anvil Hands.

The victory was the fourth win of the year in 16 starts for the heavily-backed Sporty M Three, who paid $2.60 to win. The seven-year-old Sportswriter-Shadys M Three gelding is trained by Michael Mancini and owned by Winters Racing Stable of Foxboro, Massachusetts. His 24th career triumph pushed his bankroll over the $400,000 mark.

Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Monday, June 15 at 4 p.m.
