Smith Trainees Headline Buffalo's Friday Features

Harness racing at Buffalo Raceway

Kilowatt Kid N ($20.76) was 'electric' in Buffalo Raceway's $15,139 featured conditioned optional claiming pace on Friday afternoon, June 12 as he showed plenty of energy in the second half-mile to shock the field with a three-quarter-length score over Tactical Seelster in 1:56.4.

One Corona To Go (Ray Fisher Jr.) tried to bottom out the field as he set snappy fractions of :27,4 :56.1 and 1:26.1. Enjoying 3-3/4 length advantages at the half and three-quarters pole, things were about to crash in on One Corona To Go during the last panel. Kilowatt Kid N, driven by Drew Monti, was three-wide approaching the top of the stretch and had little problem getting past the tired One Corona To Go, who eventually finished in third. Tactical Seelster (Brett MacDonald) hung tough down the lane but didn't have enough to catch the charging Kilowatt Kid N.

The win was the fourth in 22 starts this year for the 12-year-old Kilowatt Kid N (American Ideal-Wave Runner), who is conditioned by Samuel Smith and locally owned by Mike Torcello. The career winner of 26 races now has $365,835 in earnings.

Driver Kevin Cummings, who had four victories on the day, posted two of them in wire-to-wire fashion in the $15,139 trotting co-features with Samuel Smith trainees.

Infinity Stone ($4.70) was the most impressive as he romped to an easy 8-1/4-length decision over Dougadougadew (Kyle Cummings). Infinity Stone posted splits of :28.4, :57 and 1:26.2 en route to the 1:56.4 nod. Mister Squeeze (Drew Monti) finished third. Owned by El Dorado Stables of Ft. Myers, Florida, the eight-year-old Il Sogno Dream-Magic Factory gelding Infinity Stone was victorious in two of his four starts for his connections before being claimed from Friday's race.

In the other bracket, Security Code S ($3.80) showed the way the entire mile, setting fractions of :29.1, :59 and 1:29.4 before keeping Whats The Point (David McNeight III) at bay by three-quarters of a length in 2:00. Lougazi (Ray Fisher Jr.) finished third. The winning four-year-old Chapter Seven-Queen Paige gelding, now four-for-six this year, is owned by Jagged Brook Farms of Batavia, New York.

There's a 13-race program set for Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
