Ammo Takes Aim At Cecil Ladner Memorial
A mighty field of invitational pacers will line up Saturday, June 13 in the Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 14-dash presentation with a 6 p.m. (ADT) opening post time. The $10,000 Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational hits the track in Race 13.
Ammo is the morning line favourite from post three with Marc Campbell in the seat for trainer Ron Matheson and owners Woodmere Farms and Patrick Morris. The Sweet Lou pacer was a winner in 1:50.2 in his latest outing at Plainridge Park and will look to add to his $972,289 in lifetime earnings as he makes his Island debut.
Bee Two Bee has post five with Jason Hughes back in the bike for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Blair MacLauchlan and Donald MacRae. The Sunshine Beach stallion has been a force at the top level all season and is fresh off another strong second against this group.
Trumpster Blues gets post two for driver Adam Merner and trainer David O'Brien. The Always B Miki newcomer is owned by Tommy Collings and last raced the Open level at Scioto Downs in Ohio.
Also in the field, Blood Money will leave from post four with Gilles Barrieau driving for trainer Matheson, while last week’s winner Get Wings has post seven for driver Paul Langille and trainer Vaughan Doyle. Nuttin But Finesse (To be driven by Mike Downey) has rail control for trainer Ellen Stevenson, Ron Matheson trainee Twin B Tuffenuff (Corey MacPherson) gets post six and Fast Louie (Ken Murphy) completes the field from post eight for trainer Jennifer Doyle.
The Post Time Picks like Ammo on top.
“Judging by the lines Ammo can handle a half-mile track and was a bang-up third at Northfield three down on the card. We’re betting Campbell will be pushing the pace early and if that’s the case it could be a gate to wire score.”
The program also features a pair of $9,000 Aged Pacing Mares Series divisions, carded as Races 9 and 11.
In the first division, Lady Cafe Au Lait is the top choice from post five with Campbell aboard for trainer Earl Watts and owners Matt and David Burke and Windemere Farms. A winner in all of her last four starts, she faces off with Redland Misspretty (Langille), Therealprincess (Mike Downey), Woodmere Honeymoon (Kenny Arsenault) and Tobins Brownie (Merner).
Rosetown Mary is favoured from the rail in the second division with Corey MacPherson in the bike for owners Rosetown Stable and Taylor MacPherson. Other entries include Sugar Bowl (Campbell), Lady Devine (Murphy), Oh Ophelia (Barrieau) and Freaky Fanny (Darren Crowe).
