Fated Fire Fronts Grand River Preferred Mares
Fated Fire provided all the fractions and held off a tough Macapelo Seelster to tally her first win of the season in the Wednesday, June 10 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at Grand River Raceway.
She powered away from post three, striking the front quickly for Jody Jamieson and pacing a :27.2 opening panel. Macapelo Seelster (Austin Sorrie) started up from fourth nearing the half in :56.4 and reached the leader on the backstretch, with Fated Fire quickening to a 1:24.2 three-quarters to keep that foe at bay. They entered the last turn on even terms, but the inside path gave Fated Fire an edge coming into the lane, and she resisted the game challenger by three-quarters of a length for the 1:52.3 score. Redlandbethanyjean (Paul MacKenzie) completed the ticket.
Fated Fire’s win ended an 18-race winless run and improved the six-year-old to one-for-17 this year. She has racked up 20 wins and $212,821 in earnings in 128 lifetime starts. Pam Forgie trains the daughter of Straight Shooting-Shes Meant To Be for Mindy Repko of Muncie, Ind. The win price was $5.10.
