Georgian Downs Opens 2026 Meet

Headed to the gate at Georgian Downs

Georgian Downs held its first harness racing card of the season on Saturday, June 6, with Kellina Diamond winning the $10,000 optional-claiming feature for pacing fillies and mares in her first career appearance at the track.

Brady Galliers blasted Kellina Diamond off the wings, and the six-year-old was in firm control of the seven-horse group through :29.1, :59.3 and 1:28.4 splits. With Gimmie A Corona (Guy Gagnon) stalled first-over and 2-1/2 lengths back, only pocket-sitter Talldarklatte (Damian MacLellan) posed a threat straightening for the stretch, and Kellina Diamond required no urging from Galliers to motor home a 1-1/2-length winner in 1:57.2. Kootenay Leia (Samuel Fillion) completed the ticket off a three-hole trip.

Kellina Diamond earned her first win since March 6 to bolster her seasonal record to four-for-17. The daughter of Betterthancheddar-Regal Magic has won 15 times and earned $153,256 in 82 career outings. Carmen Auciello trains the mare for Daniel Sarafian of Unionville, Ont. The win return was $4.

Georgian is set to host racing on Tuesdays and Saturdays through August with a 7:15 p.m. first post each night. The track’s signature event, the Earl Rowe Memorial, is set for Aug. 9.
