American Risk Back In The Winner's Circle At Truro
Fresh off a front-end victory just five days ago in the Winners Over Pace during Inverness Raceway's season opener, American Risk turned in another wire-to-wire winning effort in the Friday, June 5 feature at Truro Raceway.
Driven by Ryder Matthews-Rennison, American Risk led right from the get-go in the $2,500 Winners Over Pace, setting fractions of :27, :56.4 and 1:26.1 with just a brief challenge from the pocket-pursuer Like A Glove (Noah Whebby) at the third quarter pole. Bounty Hunter (Darren Crowe) shot up the passing lane for the runner-up honours in a four-way finish two lengths behind the 1:56.4 winner. Income Approach (Keith Legge) edged out Like A Glove, last week's top class winner at Truro, and Bronx Drifter (Clare MacDonald) for third.
A 10-year-old son of American Ideal out of Kissing Bandit, American Risk earned his 54th career victory. The veteran pacer has been racing for the local ownership Risky Bizz Group and Truro's perennial leading trainer George Rennison since 2021.
American Risk, who earned nine of his 10 wins last year at the Truro half-mile oval, was the 6-5 bettors' choice in his first race there this season and paid $4.60 to win.
