Running Aces Cancels After Six Races
Running Aces cancelled the remainder of the Thursday, June 4 program after six races in the best interests of safety for racing participants as lightning moved into the area and was forecast to remain for an extended period of time.
Casey Leonard and Dean Magee both drove two winners on the abbreviated program, and trainer Justin Anfinson sent out two winners.
Letitia (Magee, $6) captured the $23,611 Minnesota-sired Class A pace for sophomore fillies in a career-best 1:55 for owner/trainer Ed Snider, getting home 1-3/4 lengths ahead of heavy favourite Starstruck Fool (Scott Cisco). Longshot Hotcheddar Flirt (Mooney Svendsen) was home in third. The winner, a daughter of Three Of Clubs-Tropical Breeze, is now two-for-seven lifetime.
The Anfinson-trained Cool Mr Cool (Leonard, $2.80) impressed in the $23,611 Minnesota-sired Class A division for three-year-old pacing males, posting a 5-1/4-length tally in a career-best 1:53.1 for owners Kyle Larner, Jesse de Long and Terry Knothe. Luke Skyrocker (Luke Plano) took second, followed by Diesel Thunder Boy (Josiah Miller). Cool Mr Cool won for the second time in seven lifetime outings.
Bright Path (Nick Roland, $3.80) surged late to win the $11,806 sophomore Minnesota-sired Class B pace in 1:57.4 for a new lifetime mark and his second career win in 20 outings for owner Cathy Dessert and trainer Anfinson.
Fox Valley Groupie (Dean Magee, $2.60) delivered as the heavy favourite in the $8,333 second leg of the Burning Blaze Pacing Series in 1:53.3 to advance to four-for-four in 2026 for owners Hart Walker and Jim Ballinger and trainer Brett Ballinger. He is nine-for-34 lifetime.
Live racing returns to Running Aces on Sunday for a 10-race program that will get underway at 6 p.m. (CDT).
