You Got It Kemp Rebounds For Mohawk Feature Victory

You Got It Kemp

You Got It Kemp, making his second start off a 19-month absence, bounced back from an early break in his return appearance with a 1:53.1 victory in the $24,000 conditioned feature trot on Sunday, May 31 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

With favoured Ungawa (Mark MacDonald) out of contention after an early break, the 2024 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final champion pushed out to secure a seat in the pocket behind Getthegreen (Louis-Philippe Roy) through :27.1 and :55.4 early panels. You Got It Kemp was tipped off the cones by James MacDonald nearing three-quarters in 1:24.2 and sprinted home to a two-length victory in a lifetime-best clocking. The Bear A Cuda (J.R. Plante) rounded up Getthegreen late for second.

You Got It Kemp, an O’Brien Award finalist at two, missed his entire three-year-old season with a high suspensory ligament injury. He broke stride before the start on May 18 — his first start since his 2024 Super Final victory — before winning his second start at four on Sunday. The Muscle Mass-Speed Titan gelding, who went five-for-six as a freshman, improved to six-for-eight lifetime. He has earned $390,167 for trainer Daniel Lagace, who shares ownership with Brady and Brooke Lagace of Cambridge, Ont. and Suojalampi Stable Inc. of Delray Beach, Fla. You Got It Kemp paid $5.80 to win.
