Enola Battles To Tioga Feature Score
Enola dug in at the end of a lengthy battle to capture a thrilling $15,278 featured conditioned trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday, May 30.
Enola, driven by Mike Merton, went to the front and led to the quarter in :27.2 and was first to the half in :57.1. Oliver The Great (Ridge Warren) joined Enola first-up at the midway point, and the two were side-by-side heading down the backstretch with Enola ahead by a half-length at three-quarters in 1:24.4. Oliver The Great grabbed a short lead as they came into the stretch, but Enola battled back and won by a neck with a late lunge in 1:54. Sir Maverick (Joe Chindano Jr.) finished third.
Enola, a six-year-old mare by Resolve-Deweys Katie, had missed by a half-length in the Tioga Open in both of her last two starts before dropping and popping on Saturday. She is now 19-for-106 lifetime for owner Go For Glory Stable LLC and trainer Rob Harmon. The win price was $3.92.
Ridge Warren had a driving triple on the 10-race card. Merton won two races.
