Red Shores Preferred Stars Renew Rivalry Saturday

Blood Money

The Saturday, May 30 heavyweight slugfest continues this week at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park with a rock solid Preferred 1 featured pace.

The 13-dash program gets underway at 6 p.m. (ADT), with the $7,000 Preferred 1 lining up in Race 12.

Free-legged sensation Blood Money has been installed as the morning line favourite from post three with Gilles Barrieau in the bike for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey. The son of Sweet Lou rides a six-race win streak into the contest and will have some top-level company looking to end his reign on top.

Bee Two Bee had his seven-race streak snapped last week in a narrow loss while charging at the end of the mile to be race timed in 1:52.1. Jason Hughes is back in the bike for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Blair MacLauchlan and Donald MacRae. The Sunshine Beach stallion sits at 48 lifetime victories and has post four this Saturday.

Rail control goes to Blood Money's stablemate, T H Boomtown for owners Dr. Don Ling and Wayne MacDougall. Marc Campbell picks up the catch drive as the son of Captain Crunch makes his first start off the bench.

Malevolent has post two with Paul Langille driving and training for owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille. The former Atlantic Stakes Star paced a speedy mile of 1:53.3 with a 26.4 closer in the first start of his four-year-old campaign.

Rounding out the field in post five is Nuttin But Finesse with Mike Downey aboard for trainer Ellen Stevenson and owner Dr. Downey. The 39-time winner has hit the board in all his Preferred appearances in Charlottetown this season.

The Post Time Picks likes Blood Money to return to the winner’s circle.

“Blood Money fired off the wings last out and never looked back setting an Atlantic Canada record for free-legged pacers. He also gets a great post to work from and the tactics could be the same this time so we’re calling for top spot.”
