Binge On Yankee scorched Plainridge Park in a blistering 1:49.4 as he went gate-to-wire in the $38,194 Open Pace on Thursday, May 28.

Binge On Yankee flew off the wings for Mitchell Cushing, took the lead, and marched off fractions of :27.1 and :54.4 with Handlelikeaporsche (Nick Graffam) tucked in the pocket. Mydadsaid A (Jacob Cutting) made a first-over move on the backstretch but never made an impact while Two Fold Cold (Dave Ingraham) initiated his usual late brush and was flying to three-quarters in 1:21.4. Binge On Yankee had paced away from Handlelikeaporsche at the top of the lane, and he kicked clear of Two Fold Cold and Jamaican Rock A (Chris Long) by 3-1/4 lengths for the seasonal-best win. Two Fold Cold took second over Jamaican Rock A.

Binge On Yankee took his 20th career win in 94 starts. Trainer Mark Eaton co-owns the six-year-old son of Stay Hungry-Bootleg Yankee, a three-time winner in six starts this season, with Robert Griffin. The win price was $4.

Cushing also won the secondary-featured $34,722 upper-level optional-claiming pace with Alex Having Fun ($7). The nine-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-Arterra motored comfortably on the point through splits of :27.1, :55.2 and 1:23.2 before rounding the last turn and holding off the pocket-sitting Rockin On Venus (Jacob Cutting) in the stretch to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:50.2. Confederatestar N (Matt Athearn) was third. The winner, owned and trained by Kimberly Vafiades, took his 44th career win in 195 outings.

Cushing also won with Hes Coming On ($4.80), who set a lifetime mark of 1:50 in his 4-1/4-length romp for trainer Julia Eaton. George Anthony Jr. owns the five-year-old Sunshine Beach-Cool Yankee gelding. The reisnman also had a second and two thirds from his seven starts, giving him a .603 UDR for the 10-race card.

Racing resumes at Plainridge on Friday at 4 p.m. There will be a $25,318 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta wager in the sixth race.
