Beginning with the condition sheet for Monday, June 8, purses for most races at MGM Yonkers Raceway will increase by 10 per cent. 

For example, this purse hike will see the Invitationals go for $43,000 USD and the Opens for New York-bred four and five-year-olds at $37,000 USD.

The classes that will not see a bump include non-winners of $5,000 USD in their last five starts, $15,000 USD claimers and amateur trot events.

"We want to reward our loyal trainers with this purse increase, as well as our newcomers brought in by the recently-launched bonus program," said Joe Frasure, Race Secretary.

The new bonus program brought in 33 new horses during its first week.

Next month, Wednesday racing returns to Yonkers as the current run of Saturday programs ends on June 6 and won't return until Aug. 1. For the next two weeks, though, the oval races at 6:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
