Lady Cafe Au Lait Seeks Charlottetown Preferred Double
A sharp group of distaff pacers will line up in the Thursday, May 28 feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park with Lady Cafe Au Lait looking to continue her strong form in the $6,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred 1 Pace.
Lady Cafe Au Lait gets top billing at 5-2 for driver Paul Langille and trainer Earl Watts as the mare seeks her fourth straight victory. She circled the field to win her first start at Charlottetown on May 14, taking the Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 in 1:55.2 for owners Matt and David Burke of Stratford, P.E.I. and Windemere Farms of Springvale, P.E.I. The four-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Lady Latte will have rail control in her quest for win number 13 in 46 career starts.
Get Answers (6-1) has post two for trainer Landon Campbell with Marc Campbell in the seat for owner Brady Doyle of Stratford. The Lazarus N-Want Answers six-year-old had been racing at The Raceway at the Western Fair District recently for trainer Mary Ratchford and now returns to the East Coast. She is 20-for-87 lifetime heading into the Thursday feature.
Sweet Molly (3-1) leaves from post three with David Dowling in the bike for owners Clair Murphy of Millvale, P.E.I., Derrill Murphy of Lethbridge, Alta. and Cindy MacLean of Charlottetown, P.E.I. Jennifer Doyle trains the five-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Cheyenne Molly, who was the runner-up to Lady Cafe Au Lait in her most recent start. The mare seeks her 14th career win in 81 outings.
Sugar Bowl (7-2) has post four for owner Brian MacPhee of Mount Stewart, P.E.I., with David O’Brien training and driving the Sweet Lou-Well Read seven-year-old. The veteran mare boasts a record of 25 wins, 24 seconds and 23 thirds from 101 lifetime starts.
Lady Devine (4-1) will be driven by Ken Murphy from post five for trainer Doyle of Stratford, who co-owns the mare with Max Webster Stable of Inverness, N.S. The five-year-old daughter of Heston Blue Chip-Booty Call is aiming for her 25th victory in her 88th start.
The Post Time Picks sides with Lady Cafe Au Lait to deliver another top effort.
“Lady Cafe Au Lait crushed her opponents in her final two starts in Ontario and has carried that momentum to P.E.I. In her first start at Red Shores, she was three-wide on the final turn and still closed in :27.3 to win. With rail control, she will most likely call the shots on the front, so I'm betting she notches her fourth straight win.”
The Thursday card gets underway at 6 p.m. with 13 dashes scheduled.
