Triple Hi-5 Carryover Thursday At Scioto
The Super Hi-5 wager at Scioto Downs is building momentum following a rare triple carryover on Wednesday, May 20.
With no winning tickets in three consecutive sequences, the carryover has swelled to $41,530 heading into Thursday’s fourth race. The conditioned event has drawn a competitive field of 10 pacing fillies and mares.
Through the first 11 days of racing at Scioto, handle has shown a 21 per cent increase year over year.
“Overall, our numbers have been pretty solid this year so far,” said Jason Roth, Scioto’s Director of Racing. “We’ve had quite a few carryovers and a couple guarantees to start the season. We hope to keep the momentum going with as many full fields of 10 as possible and up to 16 races per card.”
Last season’s leading driver, Chris Page, is topping the drivers' standings so far with 29 wins in 136 starts, giving him a 21.3 per cent win rate. Luke Hanners is sitting second with 24 wins and Brett Miller is third with 22.
Scioto’s leading trainer for the past 31 consecutive years, Virgil Morgan, Jr., has a big lead early this season with 24 wins in 80 starts, for a 30 per cent strike rate. Ron Burke sits second with nine wins, followed by Heather France in third with six.
The 91-day 2026 Scioto Downs regular season runs through Saturday, Sept. 19. Races are held Tuesday-Saturday, with special holiday cards on Memorial Day and Labor Day instead of the Tuesday card that week. The track will then re-open for the Breeders Crown, with eliminations held Oct. 16-17 and the finals Oct. 23-24.
