Ramborain Wins Vernon Open Trot

Ramborain winning at Vernon Downs

Ramborain and trainer/driver Dan Daley topped a short field of Open trotters, winning the $11,644 feature at Vernon Downs on Friday, May 15.

With the field scratched down to just four starters and the big favourite, City Of Hope (Leon Bailey), on a break at the start, Ramborain went straight to the front and led through a quarter in :28.4, a rated half in :58.4 and three-quarters in 1:26.1. As they reached the stretch, Zapaca (Frank Affrunti) went all out after Ramborain from the pocket but couldn't catch the leader, who won by three-quarters of a length in 1:56. What A Mission (Michael Miller) followed in third.

Dan Daley trains Ramborain, a five-year-old gelding by Crazy Wow out of Scarlett Rayne Deo, for owners Ann-Mari Daley of Astor, Florida, Jlrl LLC of Yonkers, New York, Todd Van Alstyne of Alachua, Florida and Margaret Waterbury of Watervliet, New York.

Ramborain picked up his initial win of the season after hitting the board in his first two starts. He now has 14 career victories with earnings approaching $200,000.

Sent postward as the 3-1 second choice, he paid $8.56 to win.

Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday, May 16 with post time at 5:05 p.m.
