Dyladmar Wires Harrington Open Rivals
Dyladmar, coming off a conditioned win when dropping in class a week ago, returned to the $30,822 Open Handicap Trot level at Harrington Raceway and went gate-to-wire for a 1:55.2 victory on Wednesday, May 13.
Dyladmar took advantage of post two and grabbed the lead for Russell Foster as the wings folded, then cruised through fractions of :27.3, :58 and 1:26.2 and kept Every Day Dan (Mike Cole) at bay down the stretch to win by 1-1/2 lengths. Speed Away (Corey Callahan) was third.
Trained by Edwin Gannon Jr., the winning six-year-old Muscle Hill-Sahalee gelding took his second win of the year in eight outings and 16th lifetime in 74. He is owned by Dreamville Stable of Cambridge, Ont. The win price was $16.40.
Foster blew up the odds board in the next race by piloting Gaelihill ($156.60) to a front-end victory at 77-1, giving the reinsman a driving double on the card.
One race later, Frank Chick's Kinnder Icecube ($4.40) won his third straight race for trainer Jamie Sullivan in 1:59.4. The win gave driver Jason Green a double. Allan Davis, Mike Cole and Art Stafford Jr. also had two wins each.
Gannon-trained Embrace The Future ($5.40, Art Stafford Jr.) was a winner later in the 15-race program.
