Blood Money Looks To Stay Hot At Red Shores

Blood Money

The Preferred class renews this week at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday, May 9 with the streaking Blood Money seeking his fifth straight victory.

The Saturday program kicks off at 6 p.m. (ADT) featuring a $6,250 Preferred class in race 10 of the 11-dash program.

Blood Money draws post five in the field with Gilles Barrieau remaining in the driver's seat for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey of Saint John, N.B. The 10-year-old Sweet Lou stallion has won his last four races including being undefeated in the new season since removing the hopples. The now free-legged stallion is a 37-time winner in his career as he sits at $517,000 in career earnings.

Twin B Tuffenuff (To be driven by Corey MacPherson) has post four for trainer Matheson and owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown. The 11-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven makes his 2026 debut after scoring seven victories in 2025.

Nuttin But Finesse, winner of the 2025 James 'Roach' MacGregor Gold Cup and Saucer consolation, is the post three entrant for owner Dr. Downey, trainer Ellen Stevenson and driver Mike Downey. An eight-year-old son of Art Major, Nuttin But Finesse has been second to Blood Money in both his 2026 starts.

Truro Raceway three-year-old colt track record holder One Wicked Man (Kenny Arsenault) has post two as he makes his first start of his four-year-old season for owner James Perrot of Stratford. The son of McWicked is a 13-time winner from his 27 lifetime starts.

Brigus (Ken Murphy) completes the field with rail control for trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner Milton Young of Paradise, N.L. The Betterthancheddar gelding was a winner in 1:55 in January in Charlottetown.

The Post Time Picks go with Blood Money to win again.

“Blood Money zipped off the wings last week and went right down the road to victory.  He’s back in the same spot this week and with Barrieau at the lines he could score a natural hat trick.”
