Jett Propelled Soars From Last To Win Harrington Open
Jett Propelled took off from seventh at the half and flew home off cover to circle the field in the $30,405 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace on Tuesday, May 5 at Harrington Raceway.
Nite Time Deal (Art Stafford Jr.) assumed command of the featured group of mare pacers from post five and led through early fractions of :26.4 and :55.3 with Jett Propelled trailing the field. Stevie Hanover (Montrell Teague) then made a fierce first-over charge and cleared the pacesetter past three-quarters in 1:24.4 as Jett Propelled advanced third-over. At the top of the stretch, Jett Propelled fanned three-wide for Jason Thompson and surged to a 2-3/4-length win in 1:54.3. Almost Persuaded (Russell Foster) closed for second with Stevie Hanover third.
Jett Propelled, trained by owner-breeder Bob Shahan, took her sixth win of the season in 16 starts. The five-year-old daughter of Roddys Bags Again-Jett Away has now earned $650,687 and won 22 times in 80 lifetime outings. She paid $5 to win.
Brandon Givens had four driving wins on the 14-race program. Mike Cole and Trae Porter each had a pair of victories.
