The 2026 Standardbred Owners Association of New York / Yonkers Raceway John R. Brennan Scholarship application and rules are now available.

In December, the SOANY Board of Directors increased the total awards from $18,000 USD to $23,000 USD and to add an additional winner.

The scholarship awards are $11,000 USD for first place, $6,000 USD for second place, $4,000 USD for third place and $2,000 USD for fourth place. The application deadline is Friday, May 29, 2026.

The scholarship applicant or his/her immediate family member must be a 2026 Standardbred Owners Association of New York (SOANY) member in good standing or the applicant can be an immediate family member of a backstretch employee (caretaker). Immediate family member means spouse or child.
