Odds On Mr Mamba Returns In Hoosier Qualifiers
World champion Odds On Mr Mamba returned to action on Wednesday, April 29 with a winning qualifier at Hoosier Park in preparation for his highly anticipated sophomore season.
Driver Peter Wrenn tucked Odds On Mr Mamba in the two-hole off the gate behind the inside leaver, Open mare Wild Rosa (Lewayne Miller), while while veteran pacer Dancin Lance (Devin Neafus) worked his way to the lead from the outside, clearing past the first pole in :29.2. Wild Rosa retook command down the backstretch en route to the half in :58.4 with Odds On Mr Mamba ready to roll from third as Wrenn sent the speedy stakes star in motion around the final turn. Odds On Mr Mamba blew by the leaders past three-quarters in 1:27.4 and took off down the stretch, powering home in :25.3 to win his first qualifier of the season in 1:53.2 by open lengths.
Trained by Melanie Wrenn, the Odds On Equuleus-Honky Tonk Woman gelding won seven of his eight races and $436,552 competing solely in Indiana during his freshman campaign for Odds On Racing of Boca Raton, Florida. He paced the fastest mile ever by a two-year-old, winning an Indiana Sire Stakes in 1:47.4 on Oct. 2 in his penultimate start of the season before easily taking the state championship title.
Odds On Mr Mamba is eligible to the Pepsi North America Cup at Woodbine Mohawk Park and is the 4-1 second choice in TROT Magazine's Spring Book behind undefeated Horse of the Year Beau Jangles.
