In The End Takes Miami Valley Feature
In The End snapped a 13-race winless streak as she won the $28,767 conditioned trotting feature at Miami Valley Raceway on Tuesday, April 21.
In The End left alertly from the rail position for Chris Page with My Next Chapter (Luke Hanners) and Tally The Tab (Anthony MacDonald) firing out to her outside. As they moved through the first turn, My Next Chapter looked poised to take the lead before breaking stride and taking back, leaving Tally The Tab to press on three-wide and take over the front nearing the quarter in :28.4. In The End was right back out to retake control, moving Tally The Tab back to the pocket with Volstarita (Luke Ebersole), Nelli Up (Kayne Kauffman) and Tiny Tom (Brett Miller) behind in single-file formation and early breakers My Next Chapter and last week's winner Calculated Concept (Tyler Smith) far back.
The field remained in that order through a half of :59.2 and three-quarters in 1:28. Volstarita pulled first-over to begin her charge on the final turn and pulled within a length. Volstarita, Tally The Tab and Nelli Up all chased the leader down the stretch, but In The End cruised home to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:56.2. Nelli Up rallied for second while Volstarita held off Tally The Tab for third.
In The End took her ninth lifetime win in 33 starts, pushing her lifetime earnings to $291,415. The four-year-old daughter of Lionhunter-Guilt Free, owned, trained and bred by Anette Lorentzon, is one-for-nine this year. She paid $6.20 to win.
Tyler Smith led all drivers with a triple on the 14-race card while Trevor Smith, Trace Tetrick, Cam McCown and Chris Page each had a a double. Trainers Robert Cleary, Lorentzon, Herman Hagerman and Brian Brown also won two races each.
Racing returns to Miami Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
