Copley Cops Triple At Flamboro
Trainer Jamie Copley won with all three of his starters on the 10-race card at Flamboro Downs on a snowy Sunday, April 19, padding an already strong seasonal win rate.
First up for Copley was Arson Seelster ($2.90), who kept his perfect 2026 record intact as the four-year-old Sportswriter-Azure Seelster gelding rallied up the rail to take the third race by a length. Driven by Samuel Fillion, he stopped the clock in 1:55 in the $9,900 conditioned dash.
The Copley tally doubled in the next race as Nugget Hugit ($3.10) vaulted past a breaking rival and the leader down the backstretch and glided home to a 2-1/4-length score for Fillion in 1:59. The win in the $7,800 non-winners-of-one race gave the three-year-old Cattlewash-Thong gelding his first victory in three career outings.
Copley’s Artsalive ($2.60) then overcame the second-tier post nine in the finale, swooping three-wide off cover down the backstretch and finishing best of a trio of contenders down the lane to prevail in 1:56.3 by three-quarters of a length. David Kelly piloted the six-year-old son of Artspeak-Trim Hanover to his second win of the season in six attempts.
Copley made his first start since 2022 on March 28 at Woodbine Mohawk Park and since then has taken 10 wins in 37 starts on the campaign for a strike rate of 27 per cent. The resident of Kenmore, Ont. is 1,229-for-5,690 lifetime and has recorded $6,040,988 in career earnings.
