Concise, Allioop Blue Chip Repeat In Weiss Trot

Concise

Concise and Allioop Blue Chip were repeat winners in Bobby Weiss Series action for three-year-old trotting fillies on Tuesday, April 14 at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, while on the pacing side no first prelim winner could duplicate that victory in their $24,306 divisions of the second leg.

Concise ($2.60), a daughter of Gimpanzee-Shes Gone Again driven by Tim Tetrick for trainer Nik Drennan, was forwardly placed throughout her mile, then had the most trot when swung wide by Tetrick and lowered her mark to 1:55.3. Owned by Drennan Stable LLC, Joseph Davino and Brad Shackman, she took her record to two-for-two this year and three-for-four lifetime. I Take The Cake (George Napolitano Jr.) was second by three-quarters of a length, with Royally Bred (Tyler Buter) seven lengths back in third.

Just a tick behind Concise’s clocking while also lowering her lifetime best was Allioop Blue Chip ($2.20), who stayed close to the speed then was guided to the inside for the dash home by Andrew McCarthy and was along in plenty of time for a half-length score over Be Mine Hanover (Mark Herschberger). Seven Rules (Braxten Boyd) was third. Noel Daley conditions the Tactical Landing-Soukup Blue Chip miss, who is now two-for-four on the year and three-for-eight lifetime, for R. Lynn and Philomena Curry.

Tim Tetrick added a second Weiss trot win behind the Captain Corey-Grace Am filly Chestnut Kelly ($3.20), who fanned wide for the drive and was along easily while taking a maiden mark of 1:56.4. B Eyelash (Braxten Boyd) was 2-1/4 lengths back in second, followed by Arella Hanover (Jim Pantaleano). Scott Di Domenico trains the winner, who took her first win in two starts this year and three lifetime, for owner Angela Cornell.

The other series contest for diamondgaited distaffs went to second choice Aviatrix Blue Chip ($7.20), the only non-favourite to win on the trotting side. The Chapter Seven-Oh My Goodness miss came from sixth at the half to notch her first lifetime success in 1:55.4 for driver Jason Bartlett, trainer Jared Bako, and owner Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc. She won by 1-3/4 lengths over Kickan (Tyler Buter), with Whiskey Woman (Todd Schadel) third. The winner has made two starts this year and eight in her career.

Just as Tim Tetrick drove the fastest Weiss trot winner, he also earned speed honours on the pace with the Always B Miki-Shebesailin filly She B Minnie ($8.20), who rallied with a pair of :27.1 back-end quarters to earn a new mark of 1:52.2. American Cheese (Jason Bartlett) was second by a half-length, followed by Vanna By The River (Braxten Boyd). She B Minnie has five wins from 14 outings in her brief career, including three in five this year for trainer Michael Hall and owner Robert Tribbett. She was the only non-chalk winner in the three Weiss paces.

Bringing a second series success to sire Always B Miki was Red Hot Lahoma ($4.40), who lowered her mark to 1:53 with a :55.3 last half in a front-end victory by 4-3/4 lengths. Ridge Warren guided the filly out of Somelovesomewhere, who is now two-for-five in her debut season, for trainer Jeffrey Pinder and owner Carry S Stables LLC. Squankum Lady (Jason Bartlett) was second best, followed by Sheer Heart Attack (Mark Herschberger).

The Tall Dark Stranger-Somwherovrarainbow filly Sundownsomewhere ($2.60), edged out in a :27 last quarter in the first pacing leg, this week produced a :26.4 flurry at crunch time to break her maiden in her sixth start in 1:53.1. She earned driver Jason Bartlett a Weiss win on each gait while improving her seasonal record to one-for-four for trainer Joe Bongiorno and owners Joseph Bongiorno LLC, Philip Steinberg and Crawford Farms LLC. Jaimes Way (Tyler Buter) was a half-length behind in second, and Sicerto (Tetrick) completed the ticket.

Tetrick, who posted seven driving wins on the first two cards of the year at Philly this past weekend as he bids there for a sixth straight title there, led all Pocono drivers on Tuesday with three successes. Driving doubles were recorded by Bartlett, Anthony Napolitano, and Ridge Warren. No trainer could double up on the card 14-race.

The third and final preliminary round of Weiss action for the sophomore pacing colts will highlight the next Pocono card on Saturday at 1 p.m., with Twin B Thriller going for a sweep of the prelims. There will be a carryover into the last-race High 5 wager.
