Tragic Barn Fire At Hanover Shoe Farms
Hanover Shoe Farms has reported that a tragic barn fire at the Standardbred breeding farm in Hanover, Pennsylvania on Sunday, April 12 has claimed the lives of multiple horses.
A statement posted by Hanover Shoe Farms on social media early Sunday evening confirmed that 14 horses were lost in the fire.
"Hanover Shoe Farms suffered a devastating barn fire on Sunday, April 12, sadly losing 14 horses, but no personnel were injured and no outside owned horses were involved," said Patti Murphy, Farm Manager, in the statement. "We appreciate everyone that has expressed concern and would like them to know that the remaining horses from the barn involved are safe in the surrounding fields with access to water and grass. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the firefighters who responded to the call and our staff for everything they were able to do."
