It Takes Two Takes Western Fair Preferred

It Takes Two winning at Western Fair Raceway

Driver Lorne House worked out a perfect two-hole trip for It Takes Two in the $12,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District to land in the winner's circle at the conclusion of the Friday, April 10 card.

It Takes Two and House followed race leaders Ideal Perception and J Harris through fractions of :28.3, :58.2 and 1:26 before pouncing from the pocket. The 4-5 favourite glided by the pacesetter as he kicked home in :28.4, winning the featured finale in a season's best 1:55 flat by 1-3/4 lengths. The win payout was $3.80. P L Oliver and Samuel Fillion journeyed first-over through the second lap to round out the top three.

Owned by Kimberley McNiven of Putnam, Ont., and Bradley Douglas of Ingersoll, Ont., the six-year-old gelded son of Artspeak out of Shellace has earned all five of his victories this year at the London, Ont. oval while accumulating $34,700 in purses through 12 starts. Lifetime, he has won 32 races and $257,736 in purses.

It Takes Two climbed back up to the Preferred level off a winning effort a week ago in a $10,400 conditioned optional claiming pace, which his stablemate headlined this week. Lorne House and Scott McNiven also teamed up for a victory earlier on the card in that event with Lenore & Eric Prince's homebred Scratchin An Itch ($25.10), who was six-wide at the finish line for an 11-1 upset in 1:57.3.

House had another win on Friday's 10-race card driving his own trainee HA Code Red ($4.20), who circled his trotting rivals to pick off the leader in a head decision in 2:01.3 for his first win in a dozen starts this year.
