Prolific Fire Wins Seasonal Debut At Miami Valley

Prolific Fire

Prolific Fire, last year's three-year-old-pacing-filly Ohio Sires Stakes champion, made her four-year-old debut a winning one in a $20,833 conditioned race at Miami Valley Raceway on Tuesday, April 7.

Fresh off a winning qualifier, Prolific Fire found a comfortable spot to begin her campaign a non-winners-of-two event in which Ohio-sired mares were allowed two extra wins. She was sent off as the 4-5 favourite, and Austin Hanners floated her off the gate and settled her in third, while Lil Rockstar (David Miller) left hard and led through the opening turn. Prolific Fire was out and moving before the quarter in :27.2 and brushed to the front as the field passed the stands for the first time.

Hanners settled Prolific Fire down to take a breather to the half in :56.1, and the field remained single file down the backside and to three-quarters in 1:25.2. As they rounded the final turn, Lil Rockstar popped the pocket, dragging with her Swelce (Trevor Smith). The two challengers slowly closed in but never really threatened Prolific Fire, and she won by a half-length under minimal urging in 1:53. Lil Rockstar held for second while Swelce finished third.

Prolific Fire, a three-time winner last year, took her second win of 2025 in the Ohio Breeders Championship during Little Brown Jug week before parlaying that into a Night of Champions triumph nine days later. The daughter of Catch The Fire-Alexas Jewel is now six-for-26 lifetime for trainer Todd Luther and owner Greg Luther Racing LLC. She paid $3.60 to win.

Trace Tetrick led all drivers with a grand slam on Tuesday's 14-race card, with Brett Miller and Sam Widger each making two trips to the winner's circle. Brittany Baker led the trainers with a double.

Racing returns to Miami Valley on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. first post.
