Award-Winning Filly Setyoursightshigh Qualifies
Setyoursightshigh, the 2025 U.S. Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, made her sophomore qualifying debut on Thursday, April 2 at Spring Garden Ranch in De Leon Springs, Florida.
With Mattias Melander in the sulky for the Marcus Melander stable, Setyoursightshigh sat third behind fractions of :28.3, :59 and 1:27.2 before kicking home in :28.1 to collar five-year-old gelding Fringed and trainer/driver Dan Daley. She clocked the mile in 1:56.1 over a "good" track.
The Ohio Sire Stakes champion and Breeders Crown runner-up, who finished top two in all 11 of her freshman starts to earn $933,661, is owned by Heights Stable of Lexington, Kentucky, Mantorp Llc of Greenwich, Connecticut, Amg Stable Inc. of Delray Beach, Florida and K Kjellgren Livs Ab Inc. of Bordentown, New Jersey.
Trainer Marcus Melander told Trot Insider that sophomore plans for the In Range-Special Interest filly include another qualifying mile in two weeks then she'll be pointed to the new $300,000 USD Oak Grove Trotting Oaks at Oak Grove, with eliminations scheduled for Monday, May 4 and the final on Saturday, May 16.
Team Melander also qualified multiple Grand Circuit stakes-placed trotting colt Zephyr Kemp (Calgary Games-Southwind Adele), who opened his three-year-old season with a 1:57.4 mile, closing in :28.4 to edge out the George Ducharme-trained Massachusetts stakes winner Fairytale Moni and Scott Zeron.
