Send It In Hanover Tops Saratoga Open Trotters
After Soft Shot won Sunday’s Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace at Saratoga Raceway, her stablemate Send It In Hanover topped the Open trotters for trainer Jaymes McAssey on Monday, March 23.
Send It In Hanover, who won the local Open Handicap from the inside post earlier this month, went off at odds of 5-2 when he
started from post four this time in the $22,603 top trot. Regular reinsman Kyle Swift took the five-year-old Greenshoe-Southwind Percy gelding back in the early going, settling in fourth, as upset-minded Ordained (Larry Stalbaum) cruised out to an easy lead. Posting first half fractions of :28.3 and :58.4, Ordained held firm on the front-end but Send It In Hanover persevered on the outside through three-quarters in 1:27.4 before grinding the leader into submission in the stretch to record a 1:56.4 victory by 1-1/4 lengths. Ordained held second at odds of 11-1 while Saratoga's defending Horse of the Year But Why (Jimmy Devaux) made his 2026 debut and earned the show spot.
Send It In Hanover paid $7.12 to win as the second choice on the tote board. He improved his lifetime record to 12-14-6 in 52 starts while his earnings climbed over the $250,000 mark.
Both he and Sunday’s Open winner Soft Shot are owned by Paul O’Neil of Saratoga Springs, New York.
