Myfriendjose Superb In Mohawk Feature
Myfriendjose made a second-quarter move to the lead, was pressured through the back half, and pulled away down the stretch to win the $26,000 conditioned trotting feature on Sunday, March 22 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The gelding started third as Kadiddle (Scott Young) eased to the front from post seven and put up a :28 first quarter. Flushed out by Amazing Catch (James MacDonald) as they entered the backstretch, Myfriendjose slid off the pylons and powered to the lead before the half in :57.3 and was immediately under attack from Amazing Catch.
Amazing Catch grinded forward and was head-to-head with Myfriendjose at three-quarters in 1:26.1. Those two warred down the lane and were on even terms with an eighth of a mile to go, but Myfriendjose had more in reserve than his rival and drew clear by 2-1/4 lengths for the 1:54.4 victory. Amazing Catch finished second, followed by Ways N Means (Paul MacDonell).
Myfriendjose has four wins on his 2026 card from five starts for conditioner Herb Holland and owner Kostas Diakoloukas of Brampton, Ont. The five-year-old Father Patrick-Jewels In Hock gelding is now 12-for-57 in his career and has amassed earnings of $172,250. He paid $4.40 to win.
Two Pop-Up Series continued on the card, with Johnny Buckshot ($2.90) repeating in the second $16,000 leg of the series for trotters that have started for a purse of $11,000 or less this year and did not earn more than $120,000 in 2025. There were three $8,500 divisions of the $7,500 claiming series for pacers, won by Hes Swift ($5.50), Tellit Russ Tellit ($2.90) and Titanic Hanover ($7.40).
