Bruno No No No Flies In New Holland Series

Bruno No No No

Bruno No No No soared to a 1:50.2 victory in the co-featured $30,000 first leg of the New Holland Pacing Series on Saturday, March 21 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, staying perfect in two starts this season.

The four-year-old stallion, driven by Doug McNair, was away third to the quarter in :26.4, then followed the move of Its Saturday Night (Louis-Philippe Roy) to brush to the lead at the half in :55.3. He managed a mild third panel to three-quarters in 1:24 and brought the field into the lane with Its Saturday Night angling out for the drive. It was down to those two in deep-stretch, and Bruno No No No resisted the attacker by a half-length to secure the victory. Jack Panic (Travis Henry) closed for third.

After an Open-2 Pace win two weeks ago, Bruno No No No has won both starts this year. He moved to trainer Dave Menary and owner Pollack Racing LLC of Venetia, Pa. in January and is unbeaten for his new connections. The son of All Bets Off-Winbak Alice has won 10 times and earned $160,680 in 30 career starts. He paid $3.10 to win.

The next leg of the New Holland Pacing Series is set for March 28, followed by the $60,000-added final on April 4. The series is for non-winners of $150,000 (or $175,000 for fillies and mares) in 2025.

Poseidon Seelster set sail to a commanding gate-to-wire victory in the co-featured $30,000 Open-2 Pace. The gelding was never challenged as he laid down the fractions of :27, :57, and 1:25.1, lengthening his advantage as he rounded the final turn and rolling home under no urging from Bob McClure to win by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:51.1. Jordy N (Roy) closed along the outside and reached up for place over the pylon-skimming Whatchulookin At (James MacDonald).

The Don Lindsey-trained Poseidon Seelster is four-for-10 on the season with two show finishes in top-level Opens. The nine-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Porsche Seelster is owned by Lindsey of Fergus, Ont., Paul Kleinpaste of Orangeville, Ont., William Alempijevic of Lexington, Ky. and Garth Bechtel of Meaford, Ont. The win was his 26th lifetime in 161 starts, and he has raked in $977,910. His win price was $4.10.

It was more of the same in the Pop-Up Series, with first-leg winners Batterup Hanover ($3) and Stormalong ($4.80) capturing the $16,000 second-round splits on the card. The series is for pacers that have started for a purse of $11,000 or less this season and did not earn $120,000 or more last year.
