Five Straight Miami Valley Opens For Oh Look Magic
Oh Look Magic won his fifth straight top-level race at Miami Valley Raceway as he took the $49,315 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, March 18.
Starting from his assigned post six, 1-5 favourite Oh Look Magic floated away from the starting gate for Chris Page and settled in fourth along the rail as Asian Zing (Tyler Smith) left alertly to protect the rail with Adamsville Road (Luke Hanners) advancing on the outside. Adamsville Road cleared to the front and led the field past the first station in :28, but Oh Look Magic was immediately out and moving past the quarter, looking to brush up for the lead. Adamsville Road didn't make it easy as he prevented Oh Look Magic from clearing to the front until after the half, which was trotted in :56.2.
Up the backside, Oh Look Magic was now in command as Adamsville Road was relegated to the pocket with Asian Zing riding along in third while Sayinwhatimthinkin (Trevor Smith) pulled first-over from fourth. As they passed three quarters in 1:24.3, Oh Look Magic led by 1-1/2 lengths over Adamsville Road and a closing Sayinwhatimthinkin. The order stayed the same around the final turn, with Adamsville Road closing up the inside in the stretch, but Oh Look Magic held him off to win by a measured three-quarters of a length in 1:52.4. Adamsville Road was the second for the fifth straight start with Sayinwhatimthinkin third.
Oh Look Magic is now six-for-eight on the year, banking a North America-leading $166,278 in earnings. Ron Burke trains the son of Lookslikeachpndale-Miami Magic for Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The six-year-old is now 31-for-92 lifetime and has earned $979,408. He paid $2.60 at the windows.
The win was also part of a four-bagger for Page on the 14-race card, two of those victories coming for Burke.
Racing action at Miami Valley closes out this week on Thursday with a post time of 4 p.m.
