Sayinwhatimthinkin Tough In Miami Valley Open

Sayinwhatimthinkin

Sayinwhatimthinkin made a powerful third-quarter brush through the rain to capture the $43,836 Open II Trot over a wet-fast track at Miami Valley Raceway on Wednesday, March 11.

As the wings of the gate folded in the feature, Legacy Affair (Trace Tetrick) fired out to take the early lead and carried the field single file to the quarter in :28. As they moved into the stretch for the first time, Global Sensation (David Miller) popped out from third to rush up and take command, clearing just before the half in :55.4. Global Sensation quickly established a cushion over Legacy Affair while the 8-5 favourite Sayinwhatimthinkin got underway from fifth as they turned onto the backstretch.

Sayinwhatimthinkin motored to three-quarters in 1:24.3, gliding past horses and pushing in front of Global Sensation for control nearing the final turn. Trevor Smith provided mild encouragement to Sayinwhatimthinkin down the stretch, and the gelding cruised home to a 2-3/4-length victory in 1:53.1. Global Sensation finished second, while Legacy Affair was third.

The win was the first of the year in seven starts for Sayinwhatimthinkin, who is now 12-for-92 lifetime with $460,969 in earnings. Jeff Smith trains the six-year-old son of Swan For All-Special Interest for TDTrot LLC. The win price was $5.40.

For Jeff Smith, it was his second victory on the card after winning with Stud Muffin T ($6.80) in 1:53.2 earlier in the night. Trevor Smith piloted that gelding as one of four wins on the 14-race card. Luke Hanners and David Miller each had a driving triple.

Racing concludes at Miami Valley this week on Thursday. Post time is set for 4 p.m.
