It Takes Two Pockets Preferred Win At Western Fair

It Takes Two winning at Western Fair Raceway

It Takes Two took a two-hole trip to victory lane in the $12,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Friday, Feb. 27.

Driven by Lorne House, It Takes Two got the first call out of post four but landed in the pocket behind inside leaver Winmebak (Brett MacDonald) in the first turn. It Takes Two followed the leader through splits of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:26.3 before gliding by in the stretch to score by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:56.2. Wry (Brady Galliers), the odds-on favourite, finished five lengths back in third after rallying wide to get around traffic turning for home.

A winner in his first two starts of the year at Western Fair, It Takes Two missed by just a nose in his London return in the Preferred last time out on Feb. 13 following a Pop-Up Series stint at Woodbine Mohawk Park. He now has three wins and two seconds from seven seasonal starts. It Takes Two paid $8.60 to win as the 3-1 third choice.

Scott McNiven trains the six-year-old son of Artspeak out of Shellace for Kimberley McNiven of Putnam, Ont. and Bradley Douglas of Ingersoll, Ont. The homebred gelding earned his 30th career win and now has more than $245,000 in lifetime earnings.

Scott McNiven, Kimberley McNiven and Bradley Douglas also teamed up for a victory three races later with partners Bradley McNiven and Thomas Brodhurst as their five-year-old pacer Office Cheese, driven by Austin Sorrie, won his Friday night assignment for $8,000 claimers in 2:00.3.
