Fruit Snacker Scores Again In Dover Winners Over
Four-year-old trotter Fruit Snacker stayed hot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday, Feb. 24 as he won the $27,397 Winners Over/Select Handicap Trot for his third victory in his last four starts.
Last Glow (Jack Parker Jr.) and Fruit Snacker left quickest off the gate, and Last Glow accepted the pocket trip after being parked the mile last week by Fruit Snacker and driver Tony Morgan. Fruit Snacker reached the quarter in :27.4 and cruised to the half in :57. Arrowhead Hanover (Art Stafford Jr.) moved first-over nearing the midway point and advanced up the backstretch, pressuring the pacesetter to three-quarters in 1:25. Arrowhead Hanover stayed game around the final turn and down the lane, but Fruit Snacker held him off by a measured half-length to register a lifetime-best 1:53.2 victory. Last Glow remained in the pocket and finished third.
Fruit Snacker, a son of Dover Dan-First Avenue, is owned by Mark Howard of Federalsburg, Md. and trained by Willard Reynolds. The gelding has hit the line first in four straight outings but was placed third for interference two starts back. He is now 15-for-33 lifetime. The win payout was $4.80.
The feature on Wednesday’s card at Dover is the 10th-race $20,000 USD Fillies and Mares Winners Over/Select Handicap Pace. First post is set for 4:30 p.m.
