Jayport Cash Money At Mohawk
Jayport Cash took home the winner's share of the $22,000 conditioned trotting feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Feb. 23, romping on the front-end as the even-money favourite with driver Daryl Thiessen in the bike.
Assigned post five in the field of nine who were non-winners of four or $50,000 (Ontario-sired $75,000) entering the night, Jayport Cash left alertly under Thiessen urging, working past Florida Guy (Jody Jamieson) just beyond the quarter in :28.1. Once in command, Jayport Cash led to the half unchallenged in :58.4 before tripping the timer at three-quarters in 1:28 while racing clear of a duelling Florida Guy and Radcliffe (Bert Renaud), who led the outer flow from third.
Straightening away for home, Jayport Cash scampered away from the field, opening up by 3-1/2 lengths midway through the stretch. A geared down winner from there, Jayport Cash coasted to the wire 2-3/4 lengths clear of a rallying My Way (Pat Hudon) and Daffy Hanover (Travis Cullen), who finished second and third, respectively.
The victory was the first in six tries during 2026 for Jayport Cash, who is trained by Joshua McKibbin. The four-year-old Trixton-Jayportcashforlife gelding is owned by M&s Racing Stable Inc. of Rockwood, Ont., and Paul Badder of Croton, Ont. Following his fourth career victory, Jayport Cash sports a career bankroll of $97,170.
